COMMUNITY CARE

By prioritizing Indigenous perspectives and cultural teachings in our approach to health and well-being, care for community serves as our source of strength.

As Indigenous scholars and advocates, we protect ourselves in this work within a sanctuary for care, healing, and the practice of Indigenous Resurgence - offering a place for ceremony and the cultivation of Indigenous liberation from shame, guilt, and trauma. We create space and time to truly exist without fear and simply be. In this garden - whether sowed in communities, homes, the land, or one’s own practice we are devoted to safeguarding the well-being and joy of Indigenous communities.

Future Program: Knowledge as Wealth-building for Future Generations

IHEI is developing a fellowship program to address the root causes of systemic oppression and economic injustice within learning spaces.

Grounded in Indigenous Resurgence, our program will offer Indigenous youth aged 18-25 a pathway toward healing, knowledge-building, and leadership development. This fellowship will teach data justice, research methodologies, and decolonial tools to empower the next generation to lead systemic change, advocate for Indigenous sovereignty, and build a resilient future for their communities.
